Faith In Action: Sunday, April
Medina United Methodist Church Says,
“Don’t Go to Church” MUMC Shuts Down
Sunday Services to Serve the Community
By Jim & Donna Jones
Sunday, April 7th the church will leave the building – and its community will be glad it did. Medina United Methodist Church is putting its faith into action by canceling regular Sunday services that day to practice acts of kindness throughout the community.
Volunteers from both the community and church are invited to join together to complete various service and work projects throughout the community, bringing together community members from both inside
and outside the church. To volunteer, please contact the church office to sign-up. Following the conclusion of the service projects, volunteers, those who were served, and the community are invited to attend a prayer service, fellowship, and a special meal in the fellowship hall.
“We’re excited about how our congregation has rallied to support this special day of service to our community. Many people in our work parties will be neighbors who don’t attend our church, but they see the value of what we are doing and want to help. Pastor Bill invites everyone to join us”.
For more information about Medina United Methodist Church and its Faith in Action event, contact the church at (830) 589-2646. You may also contact Jim or Donna Jones (830) 589-2646 for general questions or have knowledge of a project in the Medina community that needs to be done for someone in need. If you would like to sign-up to participate with the service projects, please contact Emitt Klaassen (830)589-2646, (he will arrange sign-ups and follow through on projects) or meet at the church on Sunday, April 7th at 9AM.
Land For Sale
In 2018, Bill & Susie Alden donated an extremely generous memorial of just less than 9 acres of undeveloped, fenced and cross-fenced land (217 Caw Lane) to MUMC, in memory of Bill’s mother, Jo Alden. It is approx. 6 acres of flat pasture land facing Caw Lane and then turns right leaving approx. 3 acres of heavily wooded waterfront property which faces the West Prong of the Medina River. Electricity is on Caw Lane.
On Sunday, Jan. 13th the church voted, during a called charge conference, unanimously, to sale this property. It is now listed with Stephanie Mabry of “Texas Ranches and Rivers”. This property was just appraised the end of 2018 for $179,000.00 and is listed to sale at $175,000.00. If you are interested please contact Stephanie at 830-328-1675.
Led by Yatziri Luna on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 PM. Bring your own mat and there is a $2.00 fee per class.
