Faith in Action

I’m a RADICAL pastor that pastors a RADICAL church. One of the biggest obstacles that a pastor must deal with is the mentality that church is something you do one hour a week. One of the reasons I love Medina UMC is that you “get it,” but I want to make sure that we never lose it.
Faith in Action is a campaign that creates a heart to serve in your congregation. During these hard economic times, many people are in need of some assistance. When groups or churches set out to serve the community, it changes not only the community but the church members as well.
The Faith in Action curriculum teaches the importance of serving, and it creates an excitement within the group or congregation to get out of the church building and “be the Church” to the community. The Faith in Action curriculum culminates in a Sunday (or other service day) when regular services are cancelled, and the entire congregation or group engages in service projects throughout and alongside the community.
The four week campaign begins Sunday, February 26 with a four week sermon series and small group curriculum. Then on Sunday, March 25 we will cancel our regular service to do service projects with the community around town. Finally, we will gather together that evening for a Celebration Worship Service/Banquet!
There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in this Campaign. We need people who can work out in the field… pray… make phone calls… help with the dinner and worship, etc. Pray about where God would have you be involved in this campaign!
