Kerrville District Leadership Training Saturday, January 28, 2012 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM First United Methodist Church in Kerrville District [...]

Kerrville District Leadership Training
Saturday, January 28, 2012
9:30 AM to 3:00 PM

First United Methodist Church in Kerrville

District Event Offers
Opportunities for Learning!

Equipping the Saints 2012 has a great lineup of workshops and classes. There is something for everyone in your church!

This year, E.T.S. will be in Kerrville. We have plenty of space for plenty of people!

Some of our workshops are “old favorites” and some are brand new and exciting.

Our presenters are a great group of talented and experienced lay people and clergy from around the Kerrville District and the Southwest Texas Conference.

We are combining our “Equipping the Saints” training day and, new this year, Faith in Action spotlights during the lunch hour.

Kerrville Faith in Action Luncheon

On January 28, 2012, in conjunction with the annual Equipping the Saints workshops, we are presenting something new!

Around the district we have heard many stories about “Faith in Action” – the ways in which our churches are reaching out to those beyond our walls and our membership. Sometimes this is actually within the walls (as in a day care or a food pantry) and sometimes it is outside the walls or bounds of your community as some of yours travel long distances on a mission trip.

This year’s District Celebration (the luncheon at Equipping the Saints) will focus on these ministries to others – the ways in which we are being “El Buen Samaritano”, the good Samaritan/neighbor who cares for the needy.

In place of the Laity Awards we will celebrate our missions, engaging our neighbors in need in the many ways of our churches.

This event will be held at 11:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. A great lunch will be provided at a cost of $12.00 for all who attend.

An R.S.V.P. is required for lunch. Call the District Office at (830)896-6400 (no later than January 20th).

That is your only cost for the day since the workshops are free!

To download a complete brochure go to this LINK

This came in from Karen Crawford:
I spoke with our youngest daughter, Amy and as many of you know she developed cervical cancer last fall , had the surgery for that and it went well.

Before Thanksgiving her doctor ran some labs on here and found out she had systemic lupus and it appears to be advanced. Amy is not only in pain from the lupus but also her doctor feels it is attacking her brain. She is having seizure activity, personality changes and memory loss. Amy is 29 yrs old and a single mom with a 3, 6, 9 yr old and is truely having a very difficult time. She has an appt Jan 26th or something like that. Please pray that whatever is going on can be cared for with medication with no progression.

Thank you for your prayers. I know Amy appreciates them and we do as well. I’m frustrated because I can’t fix it. I’m also need wisdom and discernment to know when she needs my help and not my interferance.

Karen and Lewis

Ruthie Nilson just called with a prayer request. Here grand daughters apartment just burned to the ground. Her name is Charlie Hulst. She and her husband (Ronnie) and two girls got out safely, but it looks like the apartment was a complete loss. They live in Grand Forks, ND. Prayers are needed all the way around for this family. Especially Charlie since she’s an asthmatic and stress brings on asthma attacks.
